I've always considered myself a simple dresser. I'm someone who usually stays away from layers and accessories because they feel like too much fuss (I've definitely taken the Coco Chanel quote about removing the last thing you put on before you leave the house to heart). However, when I was working retail, the one dress code rule we were required to follow was TBLA or "top, bottom, layer, accessory". Looking back this was definitely a ploy to oversell to clients but it forced me to step out of my comfort zone and create more interesting outfits. While this look would have been fine with just the top and skirt, the cropped leather jacket and cobalt belt add a little more dimension.
Are you good at layering pieces or do you need to put a bit more thought into dressing like I do?

I have that top too... one of my faves!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to wear? I love the nude and blue together!

I definitely could start using that rule to my advantage...my current strategem is more like "Top, bottom, wow, I'm so late...probably should still put on some shoes!" haha
ReplyDeleteHa! That's funny Julie, and definitely how it is around here every once in a while!
